The poetry in this book is amazing! You experience all her emotions and her ups and downs and leaves you wanting to read more and more. I recommend this book to anyone cause I am sure you will enjoy it too!

Superior!!!!!!!!

We bought this book for ourselves and our children; gave it to them to read (when they were pre-adolescent) and to discuss with us. They did. We also know they shared it with some of their friends. We were confident that their friends got FACTS about sex and sexuality and its role in life and living. Exceptionally excellent at taking into account the values of family, community, religious orientation, etc. Also excellent at encouraging discussion between parents and child. Although it is dated regarding AIDS, especially, it is still excellent. One would wish it were republished with updating. We would hope that our children are able to give the book to their children.

I bought this book for my boys in the 70s. My husbands first comment was, "I wish I had had this book when I was growing up."

My boys got a lot of use from it and I am sure they shared it with their friends.

I believe the reason it has not been updated is that the anti sex nuts have tried to get every copy of it burned. In Arizona people were checking it out of the library to destroy it. They were offended by the drawings of developing boys and girls and upset by the statement that masturbation is good practice. Since those nuts were proselytizing my child with a lot of lies, it was good to have the straight scoop.

Even though this book does not give any information about AIDS I still think it is valuable and will give it to my grandchildren when it is appropriate.

A dated but frank look at Sexuality for children

I bought this book in 1978 when I was 13. It opened my eyes to sexuality in a away I never thought before.
The book is illustrated with drawings so realistic you would swear they were photographs. The drawings are of children clothed and nude, in sexual situations or just having fun.
The information is very liberal given the times and it pre-dated AIDS so no mention is given to the subject.
I doubt that this book could be published today as the drawings are very frank, but if you can find it read it. It is currently in the Vancouver Public Library.

No me gusta para nada el estilo de esta autora: almibarado, melodramatico y cursi. Parece uno de esos romances malos de la coleccion Harlequin pero con hombres. Sus personajes son de un estereotipo atroz y una burla al genero de ficcion gay: Tristan y Merydas son descritos como Miss Universos (lindos y delicados) y hay momentos en que se te olvidan que son "hombres" sobre todo cuando le hacen "pucheritos" a sus parejas. Los verdaderos machos son Darcko, Julian, los generales y soldados. Ellos son altos, fuertes, inteligentes, y "zurran" a sus muchachitos en el trasero cuando se "portan mal". QUE TONTERIA!! La trama es predecible y floja y la narracion cansona llena de innecesarios adjectivos y escenas sexuales que solo hacen bulto (llego un momento en que me las empece a saltar). Este libro fue una perdida de tiempo y dinero.

Me gusto mucho el desenvolvimiento de los personajes, me encanto Tristan y Darcko e incluso me encari�e mucho con Merydas y Julian. Tristan era un personaje encantador ese gatito se las tra�a. I teach this book & Students love it!

I teach Sociology of the Family and use this text. It is highly readable, clear and fully supported with research. My students love it and actually read it and that is a high compliment for a college text. There will be a new edition coming out next year, but this text is impressive and current.
Philip Cohen is an highly qualified professor and author.

This is a great book to help you out with any sociology classes you will have. It gives you so much information on past events in current with the graphs, surveys, etc. that will really help. This has been very helpful and informative, and has taught me a lot about how our culture and society has developed.

An Often Chilling Look at History's Greatest 'Cult of Personality'

'A meticulous look at the complex "cult of personality" built around the Soviet dictator during his three decades of power. Making comparisons with other dictators, and even some democratic leaders. Plamper strongly argues that the Stalin cult was perhaps the most well-crafted and most carefully managed in history. For example, the promotion of Stalin's image varied depending upon the degree to he wished to hog or share credit for political, economic, and military developments. Plamper often plunges into quite interesting detail, such as variations in Stalin's apparent age in portraits or propaganda posters, changes in his clothing, and, in a trait he shared with fellow-dictator Hitler, the wearing of just a single medal. A carefully researched, well reasoned, often chilling, and occasionally amusing, look at the iconography of power that throws much light on the man and his regime.'

Intelligent, Somewhat Contrarian Look at Managing Software Development Projects

First I confess that I am often a contrarian, sometimes out-of-the-box thinker with a love/hate relationship with software projects (and developers).

Mr. North does a great and often witty job of explaining why software development projects are such different animals ("beasts" he claims) than the the more typical build-a-house-and-it-sits-there projects, and what that means when it comes to estimating and scoping.

Based on personal experience, where the author hits it out of the park (and probably not popular with the developers on his project team) is the insistence on the use of testing every step of the way. This in order to ensure a solid, reliable weaving together of the different functions being coded.

I recommend this book for PMs who want to hone their skills, to developers who want to better understand what project management has to do with software development, and to stakeholders and project sponsors so they better realize what they are getting into. This will help all parties better manage their own and their team's expectations.
